Fundamental Questions

Have you ever thought about your responsibilities as a member of society? What do you owe yourself and the other people in your life?

I know that some people find the idea of social responsibility irritating and even pretentious. I don’t. Maybe it’s the writer in me, but I like the idea that our lives connect with others in an infinite web of choices. Everything that we do, every decision we make (or fail to make) has effects that resonate away from us, beyond our sphere of immediate influence.

So, in that vein, here are some questions for you. I’m not answering them, just presenting them for your consideration. If you want to use the comments, email, or social media, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Do you have a family? A spouse or children who depend on you? What are your responsibilities toward them?

Do you have a responsibility to be a good example to other people?

Do you have parents or grandparents who look forward to hearing from you?

Do you feel a moral obligation to take your health and fitness seriously?

Do you have a moral responsibility to train in martial art for health and self-defense?

Are you the kind of person who pays their bills and takes personal responsibility seriously?

Are you a leader? A person who is not afraid to take responsibility for their actions and the conditions in their life?

Are you committed to leaving the world better than you found it?
